Blackjack Rules
At the moment blackjack is the most popular card game available in casinos. Advantage of the blackjack rules is definitely that they are formally the same in other countries. Therefore the following explanations are also valid.
Basic Information
The goal number of the game to be reached is 21. This number must be kept in mind as it is absolutely necessary to avoid exceeding this value in blackjack. Basically, this game is played at a table that has the shape of a semi-circle. At this table sits the croupier, also called dealer and opposite of him sits a maximum of seven players. 52 French playing cards are used. There is a total of six card piles, so Blackjack is played with 312 cards. There are a few things to note about the different card values:
Aces move in a point span of one or eleven points. This value can only be set when the player does not acquire another card because the dealer can then count it as it is most useful for the player. In addition, there are so-called face cards – jacks, queens and kings. These count as ten points, two and ten are valued according to the number of their pips.
The rules and how to play the game
At the beginning of the game each participant places a bet in the designated areas, so-called circles (or squares). There is no problem if you are not a player but want to enter the game anyway. You can then put your bet into the betting circle. In this case, it should be noted that each casino always sets a limit that must not be exceeded and this player does not have decision-making power. In practical terms, this means that the player’s bet is only possible if the player has not already set the maximum bet on “his” circle. After completing these “preparations” the playing cards are dealt. Each card which remains visible on the table is kept for the croupier and the player. After this, each player receives another card which is also revealed. Each participant decides how many cards he wants. However, they try to score as close to 21 as possible without exceeding 21. When a player has made his decision, he declares this with the words “no card”. The game begins with the croupier and runs clockwise.
Another important term that needs be clarified at this point is a bust. This word is used for players who have exceeded the value of 21 with their cards and thus leave the game immediately. The dealer is allowed to take a second additional card if all players have received their cards. If the numerical value of the card is 16 or less, the dealer is obliged to take another card from the pile. Anything beyond this number, i.e. everything above 17, does not require any reaction. In this turn, the rule is that the dealer must count an ace as eleven points if he does not exceed the final value of 21. As a matter of fact, it is possible that the croupier also exceeds 21 points, thus giving the the profit to all other participants. Otherwise, a win is only possible for players who are closer to 21 than the dealer. In case a player should have the same number of points as the dealer, the game is drawn and terminated. The positive thing is that the player does not lose anything. If a player wins the game, he receives a cash payout of the amount of his bet. Increased winnings are paid out in blackjack (the 21 points consists of an ace and face card) and in triple seven’s blackjack (the 21 points are composed of 3 cards with a value of 7 points each).
